In this podcast episode, I had an enjoyable conversation with Julie about overcoming the challenges of recovery perfection. Both Julie and I share insights from our personal recovery journeys—mine from POTS and chronic fatigue, and Julie's from Long COVID. We discuss how recovery often comes in layers, how to appropriately respond to fatigue-related symptoms, and how what feels like a setback may actually be a natural bodily response to increased activity. We also explore how becoming overly focused on achieving 'full recovery' can create pressure that hinders progress, and how learning to interpret symptoms—rather than fear them—is a key part of healing. Finally, we reflect on how many people discover that life after recovery can actually be better than life before illness.

I had a wonderful time being interviewed by Realan on her renowned YouTube channel, dedicated to chronic fatigue recovery stories. In this interview, we explore the strategies I implemented to regain my health and energy levels, to overcome chronic fatigue syndrome and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. In this interview, I emphasize that you don’t need to be 100% recovered to live a great life—I’m living proof of that. I estimate that I’m approximately 95% recovered from POTS and CFS. If I experience occasional symptoms, they are very mild and don’t impact me, Additionally, I discuss the fundamental changes I needed to make to my deep-seated beliefs and behaviors to prevent burnout episodes that exacerbated chronic illness, ensuring long-term wellness. Interview can be found here.
