Extreme fatigue and burnout comes with physical, mental, and emotional challenges, which you do not need to face alone. There are ways coaching can support you to move you from a position of being stuck to coping again, living a life of enjoyment and fulfilment, even if this is a different life from what you were living before.
The causes of fatigue are extensive from modern day stress, burnout, hormonal changes and a vast array of medical conditions. You may struggle with a diagnosed condition of dysautonomia, POTS, long covid, ME/CFS or have a different chronic illness.
You may experience a multitude of physical symptoms, which affect various parts of your body, including brain fog. With chronic fatigue, you may experience been unable to sleep despite overwhelming tiredness, or being able to sleep, but not waking up refreshed.
Fatigue can have a dramatic impact on all aspects of your wellbeing, including your relationships. If stress and anxiety are your main concerns, fatigue and burnout coaching can still help.
We can work together, 1 to 1, upon your own devised goals, or you can follow one of my coaching programmes.
Coaching, for fatigue management, is about helping you to increase your positive feelings and improve how well you function. It's about boosting your wellbeing, which can be considered as an overall satisfaction with life.
Coaching is a client-centered process to help and empower you, as the client, to achieve self-determined goals related to your health and wellbeing. Coaching isn't about me telling you what to do. Instead, it's about me helping you to identify your resourcefulness, skills, and strengths. From this you can decide what actions to take to achieve your desired goals, based on what is aligned with your beliefs, values and preferences. If there is limiting beliefs or potential obstacles, you can overcome these through coaching. As an NLP Health Coach, I can help you work with timelines, so that you can understand and change the patterns of your past, if this is applicable.
The benefits of coaching are that you become independent, resilient and grow in confidence. From being coached, you will develop a tool kit of strategies that can be used to help with future life events. I feel this is important as conditions that can affect our wellbeing like fatigue and stress can often reoccur in our lives. Knowing the techniques to call upon to self-manage are invaluable. I adopt a holistic life coaching approach, which incorporates the mind and body. Additionally, as a qualified NLP Coach, I use knowledge, techniques and processes of Neuro Linguistic Programming to enhance my coaching service, to help you to bring about the changes you want to create.

Personalised 1 to 1 Coaching to help you with the challenges you face. When we suffer with relentless fatigue or burnout, it can feel like a lonely place, especially if we look well on the outside. We can feel misunderstood and not be sure who to turn to for help. We may be putting on a brave face, so nobody really understands the extent of our problems. Even if you have a great support network, when we are not fully functioning, it can be hard to find the way to move forward.
Coaching is about supporting you whilst you make your own decisions on what action to take, to achieve your goals. Whether you want to reduce your symptoms, have more energy, cope better with stress, make healthy lifestyle changes, enhance your work-life balance or improve communication in relationships. If you are not sure what your goals are, no problem, we can work together to identify them and set goals that are achievable and realistic.
There is also the option of following my 1 to 1 wellbeing programme:
✨Improve Life Balance & Prevent Burnout
Learn about pacing to manage your energy levels, through my pacing programmes. You will be empowered to take control of your energy levels and chosen activities. Learn to prevent boom and bust cycles in your energy levels, which can lead to post exertional malaise. Benefits of pacing are you will be able to cope better and once a baseline level of activity has been achieved and is consistent, you can then look to gradually increase your overall activity level.
My pacing programme is 1 to 1 support. There is a choice of a self-study course for fatigue management .
Pacing as a theory is simple but it can be challenging getting it to successfully integrate into your life. I can support you with this, so you can cope again. My pacing programmes help you to manage your extreme fatigue by addressing your physical, mental and emotional self.
The practicalities of how to pace is combined with NLP coaching tools, and lifestyle factors to boost your energy production are explored.
Support with adopting lifestyle changes to improve energy production, overall health and wellbeing. There is much information out there, but I can help raise your awareness of options available and you can choose which way to move forward, based on what suits your life and personality. Additionally, there are common reoccurring themes in most advice, which improve energy production and overall health, which we can explore together. Typically, people suffering from fatigue end up adopting certain behaviours to cope, but these are to the detriment of moving forward to feeling better long term. If we find that you fall into this category, we can work together towards improvement.
Help is also available with preparation for medical appointments. For example, you may need help to organise and logically list your symptoms in preparation for a GP or specialist medical appointment. You may need help to articulate the questions you want to ask.
If you can not find the answer to your question, please contact me: jo@jothomascoaching.com
The number of coaching sessions required varies between clients. Most clients have between 4-6 sessions, then we review if further sessions are required. Please get in touch so we can discuss your coaching needs and what can be realistically achieved.
There is an overlap between these two disciplines but in general, therapy is mainly looking into somebody's past, whereas coaching is future focused. However, in coaching, we do look at your past for patterns and answers, to help you move forward towards achieving your goal(s).
No. My fatigue and burnout coaching is to work alongside your medical treatment, to enhance your overall wellbeing. In terms of fatigue, most people want to maximise their energy production and ability to function. There may be some aspects of your life that are negatively impacting your wellbeing and if these are addressed you could see enhanced results from your medical treatment. For example, unresolved, overwhelming stress can lower your immunity, affect your digestive tract, increase joint and muscle pain, disrupt sleep and lead to difficultly concentrating. This is just some examples. This list is not exhaustive.
Essentially, yes. As a health coach, I'm primarily focusing on these three aspects of your wellbeing: physical (body), mental (mind) and social (relationships, social interactions). A life coach could look at all these aspects of your life as well and I could choose to call myself a life coach instead. However, as a health coach, I do not cover business, corporate or leadership coaching. Other interchangeable terms are wellbeing coach and wellness coach.
Yes. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Performance Coaching with Neuro Linguistic Programming. I am also known as an NLP Health Coach. I am a member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP) and adhere to their Code of Conduct, which can be viewed at: www.the-ncip.org Even though I am a Registered Adult Nurse in the UK, I am providing a coaching service, not a nursing service.
